Discussion

·         18+/25+ division merger.  The decision was made to combine the 18+ and 25+ Sunday afternoon double-header league into a single division.  There will be a wood bat division and a metal bat division.   Games between wood bat and metal bat teams will be played with wood bats.

·         28+ Twilight League.  It was agreed to add a 28+ division that will play single 9-inning games.  Games would be primarily played once a week, but twice weekly games could be added later in the season.

·         Interleague play with the Eugene MSBL 25+ league.  It was generally agreed that last season’s interleague play went well.  It was agreed to continue interleague play in the 2010 season.  The Eugene league will meet on February 9th.

·         Finances. The treasurer gave a financial overview.  The league had a $2500 surplus from last season.  League fees should remain unchanged from last season: $2500 for Sunday doubleheaders (18+), and $2250 for single weeknight schedule (38+).

·         Online payments.  Andrew will look into what it would take to add a Paypal option to the league website.

·         Umpires.  Brian informed Jason H. that rates should remain flat from 2009.

·         Fields.  Managers should start trying to secure a home field for the season if possible.

·         Tournaments. Briefly discussed.  Do we want to host on this season?  Will the league sponsor teams in tournaments?  No decisions made.

·         Rules. Ejection rules were discussed.  It was proposed that the umpires be given discretion as to whether a player will be suspended for the second game of a doubleheader.  Zero tolerance of alcohol at any game.

·         Rosters.  Should be delivered to the league in electronic form.

League Leadership

Leadership positions in the league need to be filled.  There is a need for league members to step forward and contribute to the future (and present) success of the league.  The following positions need nominees:

·         President Elect: Learns league president duties in order to transition to league president next season.

·         Field Commissioner: secures fields, acts a league contact for fields, handles liability forms, schedules fields

·         18+ League Commissioner: scheduling, rules/discipline, rosters, finances

·         28+ League Commissioner: scheduling, rules/discipline, rosters, finances

·         38+ League Commissioner: scheduling, rules/discipline, rosters, finances

Items for discussion at next meeting

·         League Workout – who will head it up?

·         Filling leadership positions

·         Complete treasurer’s report

·         Tournament discussion

·         Advertising/Promotion
