Q. What are the age requirements for the different divisions?

A. A player is eligible to participate in the 18+ league upon turning 18 years old.  Players must be at least 28 or 38 years old in the calendar year to be eligible for play in the 28+ and 38+ divisions respectively.   In the 38+ league, each team is allowed one non-pitcher aged 32 or over.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Each team sets it's own fees, but an individual's league dues are generally $150-$200 plus equipment costs (e.g. bats).

Q. When are the games?

A. Games in the 18+ division are generally played on Sunday afternoon as 7 inning doubleheaders.  Single 9 inning games in the 38+ division are played on mid-week weeknights.  The season begins after Memorial Day.  The 18+ division plan to complete their seasons by the end of August, and the 38+ division plays into September.  The 28+ division plays single 9 inning games generally starting at 5pm on Sundays.  Evening games during the week may be added later in the season as fields become available.

Q. I'm old, am I still going to be able to play hardball?

A. Absolutely!  Each year there are players that haven't played baseball in many years.  It generally takes a few games, but your baseball instincts will come through.  Hopefully you don't have to break any bad softball habits.

Q. What happens when I fill out the Player Information Form?

A. You will be placed into the new player pool.  There is workout and draft before the season to place new players on teams.  If the current season's workout has already completed, players will be placed on teams on an as-needed basis.  You will be contacted with more information -- if you are not contacted, please call Jeremy Fortune at 503-949-1095 or e-mail jeremy.fortune@wvmbl.com.
